:-: Crickets :-:
Surprise, surprise. Earlier this year, I came back so excited to start blogging again, posted new content a couple of times, and then … crickets.
I realized that I needed to figure out why blogging was feeling more like a chore than something I wanted to do, and I think I figured it out. The concept of having a blog was fun and exciting, but the actual execution of it wasn’t doing it for me.
A little background: I do obsessive amounts of research before committing to pretty much anything. Whether it involves turning teacups&champagne into a blog or buying a new purse, the amount of research is pretty much the same = overkill.
But hey - that’s what makes me me.
While my “research” led me to believe that I needed to stick to one or two specific topics for my blog, I don’t want to. If I don’t follow blog rules 101 and the end result is that this just ends up being something personal for me, I’m good with that. I’ve decided that if I want this blog to be what I’ve envisioned, then I need to just do this thing my own way.
I collect teacups not only because they’re pretty (oooh, shiny! lol) but because it reminds me of the wonderful experiences I’ve had with family and friends at teatime. I enjoy doing research on pottery makers to learn more about the history of the porcelain I’m collecting, but then having to formally summarize it all and have it ready in a professional format (e.g., Do I need bluebook citations?) and in time for Teatime Thursday? Meh, too overwhelming, so I de-prioritized the blog to focus on #reallife.
But writing this right now makes me happy, so I’m going to keep at it. I just like to rationalize my laziness sometimes.
Just picture me as Gudetama.
I’ll be popping new posts up on the blog on some Thursdays (i.e., realistic expectations), so don’t forget to follow me on Instagram for updates. Can’t wait to catch up (but for real this time).
See you next teatime,
C
